Common Spinal Deformities

Your spine has a natural curve of S shape when viewed from side. Spinal deformities occurs when there is problem in rotation or curve of spine.

Common Spinal Deformities In Adults Includes The Following:

Scoliosis is a spinal deformity in which spine curves either right or left. It is lateral or sideway curvature of spine. Uneven shoulders and uneven waist is seen in patients with scoliosis. Wearing brace is often used for treatment of scoliosis.

Winging of scapula occurs when your shoulder blades stick out. It is a painful condition and results in difficulty in activities such as lifting bags or brushing teeth. The neuromuscular imbalance of the stabilizer muscles of scapulothoracic region may lead to scapular winging.

Preventing Middle Back Pain

Maintaining proper posture will help in preventing your middle back pain. Sitting and standing straight, lowering chair height so that feet are flat on the ground can help in improving posture. Reducing your stress level also plays a key role in preventing middle back pain. Uncomfortable bed and poor sleeping habit and position may lead to the development of middle back pain. Avoid heavy lifting but if doing so then you should bend your both knees keeping your spine straight so that load on spine is reduced and leg muscles perform most of work while lifting.
